Faisal Afridi Promoted to ICC International Panel Of Umpires

Oh what a sight!, was when i saw a young lad with broad shoulders and short beard greeting me at Margazar Ground Islamabad . We both were there for Telenor Premiere League.

He was so much polite and submissive. I was really impressed by his personality. I have a brain wave somewhere seeing this lad ready to do something extraordinary in his new profession. This comes true in a very short span of time.

He was confident with a good built body posture. He told me his career as a fast bowler, hampered by injuries and bad luck. But, I prayed for him to see him as a high profile umpire.

He was Faisal Khan Afridi and he made it true through his hard work and dedication. Just brilliant to see him standing and performing great in his high level assignments.

Our prayers at Cricmanuals are with him and we wish him a very outstanding ICC career. He will be here to stay for a long period of time. InshaAllah

Faisal Afridi (born 31 December 1977) is a Pakistani cricket umpire and former cricketer. He played 53 first-class and 35 List A matches between 1998 and 2008.[1] He is now an umpire and stood in the match between National Bank of Pakistan and Water and Power Development Authority in the 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on 21 October 2017. In December 2018, he was one of the on-field umpires for the final of the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

In October 2021, Afridi was promoted to the International Panel of ICC Umpires, replacing Shozab Raza.
